Who would have thought we could gut out a win on a night where Jenkins could only manage 7 points -2 in the second half and where Ryan played less than half of the game saddled with foul trouble.
Nick answered the call though with 6 threes-24 points --15 in the second half including the coast to coast game winner...shades of Keekee.
Costner was also magnificent with 3 threes-15 points including two clutch free throws.
In his few minutes Kabongo chipped in with a nice base line drive and some timely first half defense on Thompson.
While rider did miss more threes than in Newark,I might disagree that they were all that open.many were rushed and most had a hand in their face.
Holding Rider to 64 on the road reinforces the Peacocks improved defensive standing.
The other intangible that you can only pick up in person is the confidence and composure that this team now has. While the Peacocks led for 39 minutes,Rider frequently made runs and the Peacocks did not fold. When in the last minute Rider took their first lead since 2-0 SPC answered right back with the game winner. They've been in quite a few tight games and are no longer easily rattled.
It's been said that bad teams always find a way to lose. This may have been true with the old Peacocks and even earlier this season---but no longer. Three conference road wins in the past two weeks is testimony to this.
Without a timeout, this team knew what it had to do to win tonight.Even after Nick's basket the defense in the last four seconds was formidable.
Great effort,coaching ,and guts.

Jordan great job on the boards -9 and Traore also 7 in just sixteen minutes.
Did I mention Hill's slam and Hall's three?

Thanks for all the posts . You had to figure there were a lot of contributors with Ryan playing just 16 minutes . It must have been a high to watch Nick's clutch play .

I know that staff and players cannot look ahead but guess it is a luxury we fans can afford . IF we sweep at home , it is amazing teams we can still leapfrog if a quick look is correct .

Manhattan -they would have to lose all three but our game is in our control , and their next one is Rider at RIV . We would have to hope that FF finds a way at FF but I believe we hold tiebreaker .

Iona - They have tough one next with Siena at Iona ( hard to believe I might have to root for Saints agin Gaels )then us ( in our control ) and we can give them game over Loyola since with ASSUMED sweep of GAELS we have tiebreaker .

Loyola - Nothing is sure thing but trailing them only by one now and with Barney who has carried them looking like he is wearing down probably the easiest of the three . For them home game against Griffs ( Go Greg) , home agin Broncs and then Iona away .

If we don't sweep obviously most of this goes moot . though getting the 7 slot from Loyola will still be in play . Please correct if this quick take is wrong .
