Subject: nice Future

If Belin and Conley are the real thing we can be competitive with anyone in the Maac even Siena ,the next two years especially if John adds one more quality recruit to the mix,preferably a freshman.Kudos to Stephanie and the Peahens,they too have a nice future.Marist will probably have one more year with Fitz but after that we will have a great shot with this young team.House is an exceptional player.

4 scholarships available for the 2009-10 season, 1 has been filled.

Top priority is a shooting forward; followed by combo/swing guard in the 6-2 range or best guard available, who is super quick, can shoot and defend.
Possibly save 1 for next year or for a transfer -
starting center.
Hey, I would take another Belin based on the information posted below.

On Belin, from the internet:
"Belin, a 6’6 senior wing player from Maloney High School in Meriden, first caught the attention of the fans and coaches sitting courtside with a variety of explosive dunks in transition. In addition to being exceptionally athletic, Belin also showed a decent skill set by knocking down three pointers and taking his defender off the dribble."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Maloney, who saw their undefeated season come to an end with the loss, was led by 6’6 senior forward Jeron Belin who scored 24 points showing his outstanding athleticism and ability to score on the interior."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Monroe had a great starting five and a bonafide stud in forward Jeron Belin...."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Monroe has a forward, Jeron Belin, who is an absolute stud."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Jeron Belin is a a beast. I've seen guys put up better numbers, but not with the same quality and not with Deandre Nealy covering them. He actually showed that a quick release can help you get your shots off against the Mott super soph. In truth Belin is probably more of a combo forward whereas Nealy is a center-forward.

Deandre didn't have his best night, mainly because he couldn't stop Belin the way he's accustomed to destroying other opponents. Still, when he wanted to he could stop him, which makes me think he may not be giving it his all on every possession, but rather just relies on being a more talented player. Still, a triple double on an off night is pretty good. He had three blocks in the final possession of the game."

Along with Sludge as one the Board's former apologists , I would only offer one word of caution. I've liked what I have seen in Conoly and heard about Belin but I also understand that it takes time for any player to learn and fit into a system. If I've observed anything about John Dunne is that he is a teacher and very precise in running plays and what he expects.Obviously, that approach is beginning to pay dividends. Yet, very few learn and fit into a program overnight. There is definitely a transitional learning period. Hope it's a short one next year.

On the same topic I'm very happy and impressed that Shumate attends every game and almost every practice (as an observer). It tells me that the desire to play is there and that he is trying to learn and grasp exactly what the staff is trying to do. Impressive.

All this means nothing (verbals) until the kids sign on the dotted line in April.

oldtimer, agree with your post but also keep in mind that Conley with not only have to transition to a new system but also shake the rust off after having sat out of competitive basketball. It might take longer for him to adjust (unfortunately) than we would hope.
