Ryan Thompson named MAAC POW . Ryan is a very good player who had a good week BUT :
Wesley 14-25 from the field Ryan 13-23
6-11 on threes 5-9
39 points 41
15 rebounds 13
5 assists 5
5 steals 2
Thrown in the more subjective stuff and they favor Wesley .
Ryan played game against Loyola which had been playing poor bb recently and whose best player by far has been wearing down and was playing hurt . His second game was against a highly depleted Fairfield team .Our two games were much more meaningful to us than Rider's games were to them . Both had game winning shots but Wesley's was a three and Ryan's was on a lay-up . As we saw in the all-MAAC , these awards are given in a careless manner .
Again nothing against Ryan but if anything it should have been about whether he deserved co-player of the week with Wesley .
You are right of course, but fortunately there will soon be a way to show the voters just exactly wrong they were. I believe that Wes will smoke Ryan on Saturday.
I agree it should have been a Co-POW. The MAAC is making these awards meaningless with how they are awarding them. It will continue with the POY and ROY imo.
