Agree, point guard is a learning experience. One thing for sure, Brandon is a typical pure point and not a combo guard. Maybe he will add that scoring dimension but I sort of doubt it. We don't need him to score a lot, just become an offensive threat.
Sort of the same difference between Gooding and Costner. Jordan does a lot of good things on the court but is not the threat Akeem is. Some players never develop that scoring mentality.
My point about Brandon is that his play this year has proven that he gives JD some options. All teams need that 6th man option. If our newbies contribute as we expect, I'm not sure that we need Brandon as a starter. Who would you rather see at point, Brandon or Nick no matter how much Brandon improves? To me Brandon provides at the very least some valuable insurance and options. I say that understanding that Nick will score more at the #2 but if we recruit that additional 6'3" scoring guard or if Belin can play the #3 as well as #4 (like Gooding) then JD will have some nice options.
