Losing credibility with you is not my concern. If you don't think that building relationships within the college, which WAS mentioned, is the first step in turning things around then you have no idea as to how to build any business or Program. Some specifics, a joint Athletic Department/ Alumni Development Golf Outing scheduled in June (formerly the Murray outing) is now a joint effort with Athletics benefiting revenue wise. Credit Bill Stein for doing this over the years but Elliott has taken it a step farther. Or how about the real possoibility of adding athletic/type majors as part of the colleges academic offerings. This was discussed previously on this Board.Examples under consideration are phys. ed, and sports management. These will not happen overnight and much work goes into the planning stages but Elliott is pushing/coordinating the drive. Lot of work for the guy to do besides running the day to day operations of the department. Easy to be a professional critic rather than doing the actual work.

I could list a half dozen other initiatives that I have become aware of both on my own and from others, including posters (Peacock Nation, Postcards from athletes just begun on the Athletic site, emphasis on Fundraising to supplement a woefully inadequate athletic budget etc.)
No special inside information and many of these initiatives are becoming well known (see Cindy as well as prior posts by others). Think PE is open to reviving the Don Kennedy Club and things like video streaming of basketball games but there are other people who know much more than I do. The only area were I would agree with you and others is that the college has always been closed mouth and only communicating with Alumni and fans on a need to know basis. Everyone should be aware of the efforts ongoing.
Word of mouth is not a good way to communicate.

So much to be done due to previous neglect.

And perhaps some ongoing neglect. Easy for some at SPC to give tacit verbal support but leave the nuts and bolts for someone else to do. Think PE is working with some of the dooers but IMO there remain, as in any organization,
those who never pitch in. Think the job PE has is enormous and unfortunately that means IMO that it will not get done as quickly as we all like. To me, first step is the athletic budget and or fundraising to get the Athletic Department up to reasonable size so that not everyone, including the AD , is not on overload, As you say, too much that needs to be done, even by on e or two energenic people.
