Subject: Patsos embarasses the MAAC

Loyola lost by 30 to Davidson but that wasn't the embarassing thing. Patsos played a trriangle and two against the nations leading scorer Steph Curry. He assigned 2 players to him at all times.
Curry saw the defense and went into a corner allowing Davidson to run 4 on 3 the enitre game.
He kept it up the entire game even after the rout was on. Davidson coach McKillup a NY guy was so incensed he left Curry in the game throughout and Patsos wouldn't relent.
Result 30 point loss. Afterward Patsos said his team had held an NBA player to 0 points and that was what they would be remembered for, rather than a run of the mill 30 point loss.Maybe Patsos is even more rigid than John Dunne who has been criticized fior being too rigid in his gameplan and coaching.Dunne at least switched back to uptempo when he sensed he had to.

Curry is a class act; as usual Patsos has no class and continues to embarass HIMSELF!

Good post, SPC Fan. While college basketball has it's share of class acts ( Coach K, Mike Brey and many others too numerous to name) it also has it's share of jerks. Seems let their ego's get out of control thinking that coaching D1 basketball makes them god. I look at those guys as wanna-bees who need something in their own lives to give them a feeling of self-worth. I was especially interested in Coach Sampson's (ex-Indiana) comments after being dismissed by Indiana and now severly sanctioned by the NCAA. Paraphrasing, Sampson said that he accepted responsibility because the events happened on his watch. No Coach, you should accept responsibility because you committed the violations, not once but numerous times not only at Indiana but at your previous school! Turning to Pastos, for him to make the comments quoted shows that he thinks his coaching genius is invincible i.e. until he gets fired.

I have no problem with an attempt to try something "out of the box" to try and win,but when it was clear that the tactic wasn't working, to continue was ridiculous. His statements afterward were inane.
Yes people will remember, but not in a positive light, and any hopes he may have had of moving up the coaching ladder will have been damaged.
His fate may be sealed at Loyola until they tire of his act.
I don't think it reflects negatively on the MAAC ...only on him.

"His fate may be sealed at Loyola until they tire of his act". That statement makes no sense at all.

My point was that like most who coach in the MAAC,there is a natural desire to move up to a more lucrative position in a major conference. This tactic, I believe, hurts his image and future.
Patsos enjoys the support of his AD as well as the fan base there(See their message board,or go to a game down there-the students love him.)
Having brought the team back from a one win season a few years back,he is tolerated for his bizarre behavior. If they start losing, his quirks won't be perceived in a positive light and he'll be gone.
I hope that clears it up.

My problem is that he appeared to care more about stopping Curry than playing a competitive game. What if Curry is in the race for scoring title?

If they did the same thing to KeeKee, I would have screamed holy murder.

I also think SPC is in no position right now to throw stones at anyone for embarrassing the MAAC.
