First and only game I get to see in person this year. The Big story of the day is no Leon, which of course affected the outcome. Hall had probably his most turnovers of the year. Jenkins shooting really off in the first half when Stoney Brook jumped out to a big lead. Stoney Brook's # 35 El Amin really dominated the game...could have had more but Hall was put on him in 2nd half and actually Hall did a pretty good job defending him on several play.
6 foot 4 guy sitting on our bench in street clothes I do not believe was mentioned before.

#35 was Muhammed El-Amin and was exactly the type of player that we need to recruit. Good size, excellent shot and moves would be the perfect compliment to Wesley. Beginning to think that we need that type of player (if Conley pans out) much more than upfront.

Had to leave with ten minutes left in the game but witnessed a very poor performance. Wesley continues his poor shooting, missing even a couple of wide open 3's. However, he drove to the basket well and made several pull up ten footers. The loss of Leon hurts in that even when Nick is not shooting it well he still puts some points on the board by driving, creating and getting fouled.

Can't figure out why Mumford gets so much playing time. His shooting doesn't deserve it and his handle and passing is more than questionable. Hall, Jenkins and Leon are more than enough. Also would like to see Hill play more in these types of games. Floor time for him is crucial for his own development. Gooding, the last few games has really had his game face on. Nice stat line and continues to put effort all game long.

Finally, our ball movement when we look bad is non-existent. Seems last year it was Leon, now it's Hall who dribbles, dribbles, dribbles waiting for a play to develop which often never does. It has been posted by many of us how much better we play uptempo and in the open court. Hall also needs to become an offensive threat. Made a 3 pointer but it was a desperation shot as time ran down. Had some open looks again which he passed up. So much for the criticisms. I wasn't at Monmouth but thought that this performance, even against a decent team, was pretty poor.

We were never in it....down 12+ all second half.

Beat a bad FDU team, but Stony Brook is an average club who has a pretty good guard we could not defend.

Let's hope it was a learning experience for Brandon Hall. Wesley hounded at every turn; our front line can't keep defenses honest.

On to the league schedule @ Marist on Friday. One of the few winnable MAAC road games this season; let's see.

Fewer than 200 people at the game, IMO.

Nick Leon did not play . Wesley cold in first half , Ryan injured his foot or ankle in first half and was limited to 20 min or so for game .. But all that and pretty lackadaisacal defense in first half and it was all over quickly . To the guys credit , played better d in second half and kept trying .

Hall and Mumford did not have good game , but difficult to criticize a point when there are so few scoring options on the court , and coaching that can't take advantage of what other guys are giving us. Even with our limited options , particularly without Leon , seems like you should make other team pay in some way for face guarding Wesley .

Akeem had few TOs trying to slash , but kept trying on both ends and made two Js , I believe three pointers : had nice bounce pass to Jordan on one of our few breaks for a basket . Ryan , God bless him , had six or seven rebounds in first half , and about four buckets on moves around the basket . Jordan Costner played hard on both ends but saw him pass up at least two wide open threes which we can't afford at this point .

But on the whole disappointing against team that really had only one player above our class , but did look better and more enthusiastically coached .

correction - meant Ryan's rebounds for game rather than first half . I will add one other thing . Not that the reffing impacted the outcome , but it seems like a damned shame for our kids that they can't get an even break on calls on their home court . There was one guy out there in particular that was terrible . Overturning one call where he was 30 feet away and had no sightline .
