Subject: Dunne's comments

I agree with the comments of SPC Fan posted below that there needs to be better communication between our few fans, members of the Don Kennedy club and our basketball staff. Reviving the after game get togethers is a great idea which I hope will be reinstituted. Coaches have their job to do but greater communication is essential. Think the SPC radio interviews with both coaches (men's and woman's) is a start. Much more needs to be done.

In any event, a poster on the Siena board in discussing SPC posted a link to their local paper which quotes JD and his opinion on our young players. Since JD's quotes are few and far between I encourage our posters who try to mind read to at least hear his own thoughts,

The article is short and a bit fluffy but the gist is that JD is happy with his young players and feels that he is one or two pieces away from parity in the Conference. This, of course, was exactly what he stated in his radio interview before the season started.

Feel free to take shots at this thinking. I would agree that there has been nothing as of yet to support such optimism AND it all depends on who JD is capable of recruiting to complete the roster. All of which has not been demonstrated to date. At least, however, he can't be accused of not knowing his needs. Rebounding is important but if one checks the game by game statistics we hold our own (outrebounded Marist) for the most part. Our trouble is scoring and for that we need a shooter/scorer at #3. Hope we get that player.

You do have a problem evaluating this coach and I suspect that you do have some relationship with him. There are so many issues that one can see at the games that argue against your cutting him some slack. He may know the needs, but if the guard position is any factor, he certainly seems to have no clue on evaluating the talent he needs.

Three seasons and a unbelievable inability to even master out of bounds plays. The lack of any real structure on offence, spastic personnel use. One can yell about lack of talent but the lack of performance even surpasses D3 ball. You came to the defense of Leon at the point a few days ago, and in that shows an unwillingness to recognize that he is one of the worse choices as a point guard. As much as you tout objectivity, you show very little in your own opinions. Yes we are forced to sit out an unwarranted extension, but that is no excuse to continue to give Dunne the pass he seems to be getting from a select few.

I know you don't like comments from outsiders, but at least the ones I cite are made impartially with little to benefit their team. One poster made the following observation on today's game

"Not sure I can say much after watching just 20 minutes of a team, but St. Peter's has to have one of the worst offenses I've seen all year. They have no one that can really "create", they have no construction ability, and the ball is constantly being dribbled. I'll bet they don't score 45 in this."

When you have as many games with similar performances, records are meaningless. If you don't know what I mean, it was his use of the phrase "construction ability" that indicts Dunne the most. Many a poor team with minimal talent shows better at execution than we do.

Please don't take my lack of response to your post as validation of your point of view. Just keeping my word of not dealing with you. I've found that it is a waste of time and energy.

Don t you understand they want no communication with people who care at all. They are embarrassingly incompetent. Why would they want dialogue under those circumstances.
