Some interesting comments on some other boards. As jajk has posted some of the Siena posters (one in particular) thinks SPC should drop out of the MAAC as we hurt their RPI. Things have a way of changing and rather than joining in their hubris, let's just wait and see.

Over on the Fairfield board some compliments. One Loyal fan called our team "spunky". A Fairfield fan echoed some of our comments stating that we have three players who could compete with anyone. He also astutely pointed out the difference in the 3 pt. shooting last night was probably the difference in the game. Both were high on Bacon and it is obvious that Ryan is getting some recognition.

i agree, spc should drop the catholic tag, became a university and increase student pop to 10k(over time) and then build a powerhouse team that eventually moves into the big east.

Good post. Agree with almost all you posted. Anyone with any basketball sense has noticed the growth of the team not only during this season but from last season. Just about everyone who attends the games has noticed this and posted as such. What has impressed me as much as the individual play has been the fact that this team plays hard. Some have dismissed that but as a coach you know that it says alot about both our players and our coaching staff.

I also agree that we are not a team of just three players and that Brandon, Akheem and Jordan bring some important pluses to the table. Don't know if you followed this board over the last year but I have been a big Akheem supporter. Aside from his defense he is a very solid player. Sure, he is not a shooter but as I've commented in the past check out his shooting percentage. It's one of the best on the team simply because he knows how to manage his game. Jordan brings so many positives not the least of which, like Akheem, is his basketball smarts. Brandon, as only a freshman has already proven he can play quite well in this league.

Not sure if we disagree on the future but I think that you will agree that we do have areas of need. We definitely need more offensive firepower and, of course, help for Ryan. Jack Hill looks like he is developing nicely but we still need that another big presence underneath. Brandon is already a 15-25 minute a game player and as his game grows can contribute even more. He's only a freshman as you imply! I also like the small team three guard offense (depending on matchups) but the truth is that we played poorly in the first half all year even when Brandon started. Still I like him on the floor as it frees up Nick to become more offensive minded. One problem I addressed in another post are the scoring problems we've had when either Wesley or Nick are being rested or in foul trouble. Ryan's recent play has taken up some of the slack but it's obvious that we are hurting when one of those two players sits. Also Ryan puts forth so much effort that he needs to rest and he is also somewhat foul prone due to his aggressive shot blocking style.

Truth is by stating that we have some holes to fill is no knock on Akheem or Jordan. Nothing wrong with a good 7 or 8 man rotation. The way I envision the future (with some luck) is that Akheem and Jordan will see significant floor time no matter what. Also have some hope for Reid as a contributor. As a coach you know that there is nothing wrong with improving what you have or assessing your needs to make the team stronger.

I don't know what game some people were at however Nick and Brandon held Han at different times and they both did an exceptional job.Their other speedy guard was also held pretty much in check by some very slow SP guards as some refer to them. As for the 1 fan from Sienna and the 2 from last night their teams must not be that good as only three players for SP were able to give them both (top teams) a run for their money, maybe they should be trying to get JD to take them over the hill.
I am a Coach who is very impressed with the growth of the team as well as the coaching staff since the Monmouth game,I also feel that Dunne has a quality team that just needs to grow together.I will agree that the heart of the team is Wes,Nick and Ryan but when you add Brandon,Jordan or Akeem you then have a pretty good defensive unit and team which will allow them to stay in games with the best in the MAAC. The progress of this team evolves around more than just three players, like every other team it takes 5 and I have not seen a team yet with 5 superstars on the court from any other team. It is called blending and that is what SP is starting to do on the average their TO rate has dropped and the teams Assist rate seems to be getting better.
Get to know the aspects of basketball and you will understand that some players have certain roles even though they may have other abilities but if asked of the coach to do certain things these players will do whats asked of them. Traore, Gooding, Hall and Costner all have elevated their games along with the other three, thats why the "team" is playing better.Has anyone noticed lately that the starting 5 for the second half of several games has been Wes,Nick,Brandon,Jordan (Akeem)and Ryan and when this line up is in they have out played the opposistion and actually won the second half of the game.Their problem with the exception of last night game is that they get to far behind in the first half. The team is starting to gel lets let them grow and show support, that too has an affect on a teams performance.Hill,Reid and Traore have also raised their level of play with the addition of the other 2 and an additional scorer this team has the potential to be very competetive.Still have the rest of the season, lets see how things play out

I must agree with the above posts on growth seen in the New Year. After the horrrendous Monmouth performance the team seems to have made a turnaround. I expect them to be very competitive the rest of the way. Oldtimer has correctly pointed out that Bacon is playing at an all MAAC level though i doubt he gets that recognition post seaon.
I hope Costner contiues to show his shooting ability when he's open as his development this year is also a major factor in competitiveness. To be fair to the staff i suspect Darryl Lampley might have added quite a bit this year if he were here and finally playing the point under control as i heard he was in the preseason.Darryl would have added some offense at the position. If Brandon Hall is to be the eventual point guard he must be able to hit a free throw or a jump shot in a crucial situation.
Nick Leon has also answered the call and moved his game up another level. Hopefully Wesley finds his shot again and adds a third reliable offensive option.

I must agree with you that Brandon must be able to complete foul shots and jump shots at critical times and my understanding is that when he first came to SP and played in their open gym he did both, however I thought his curent problem was because he broke his footand was unable to play for 3 to 4 months prior to the season,he returned I think in Nov.But in the earlier part of the season he was shooting at a higher percentage, even then he still was not shooting that much, but we don't know what was being asked of him by the coach. It seems to me as if he was having a confidence issue but is now getting over it as the rest of his game is picking up. Now with the continued support of his teammates and the coaching staff he should come out of this funk.
The same support will also help Wes return to form, as you can see he seems to be on track again with his scoring however not only is he probably adjusting to personal issues but also on court issues with his constant mugging and no calls being made on his behalf. Wes is a proven ball player and he has the ability along with Nick to lead this team to contention.
The key for these players and the rest of the Peacocks is the concept "team" which they have definitely become.I to had concerns about some coaching decision but I must commened Coach Dunne and his staff for the work that they have done up to this point. If I coaching one of the upper teams in the MAAC I would not want to play Saint Peters or Marist in the first round of the playoffs
