Subject: For those who place too much emphasis on coaching

Obviously good coaching does make a difference. But funny, just turned on the late sports news and I'm hearing the pundits lauding the coaching job Dino Gaudio is doing at Wake. Isn't this the same guy who was called a coaching disaster and didn't know how to recruit or manage a miserable Loyola team just a few year's back?

Guess Coach G must have tripped over the fountain of smarts in his travels to Winston Salem.

Oh, before I leave, maybe another not so subtle comment. Maybe I missed it but I don't believe anyone has been praising Wesley's offensive contributions over the last eight games or so. He continues to play hard but over this span both Nick and Ryan have proven the more valuable. To his credit, he has not let his shooting woes affect him defensively. He is learning how to step into the passing lanes and, when we go with Nick and Brandon, has shown he can help on the boards. Maybe becoming less of the focus on offense will take some of the pressure off, allowing him to get back his shooting stroke.

Manhattan game on Monday should be of interest in that I see two teams of equal strength. Manhattan may have the higher beta in that their shooting has ranged from good to abysmal.
