I always wonder about those fans who so easily throw around the word awful to describe a team or a player . Maybe they never played the game . Maybe they are trying to justify their predictions or expertise that have gone terribly awry . Maybe they are just plain mean-spirited .

I got a kick out of a post a while ago by one Siena fan who is wrong much, much more often than he is right . This guy , who is always demeaning our program , our facilities and our players posted after being at the SPC - Siena game at the Y that he had not seen a bb game that close in a long time . He was impressed by the size , the speed , the athleticism of the players , the speed of the game ( naturally he was emphasizing the Siena players ). You would think maybe he would learn a little from this before so easily demeaning players in the future . But that was not to be the case . As a number of us have said through some tough times , if a young man is giving it his all every time he steps on the court we are appreciative fans .

The big three came up big in a big game last night . You might think Iona's coach would have some Peacock players on his ballot for all-MAAC teams .But we do not perform that way on both ends without all the guys on the team stepping up . One game at a time , four more times . Eight straight MAAC wins would be more than enough . Fans are allowed to dream .

Always amusing how some of these posters will denegrate the opposition when their favorites suffer a loss. I guess it offers them comfort and a release to pile additional insult on their guys by remarking on how shitty their opponent was.

Another pattern you see on a number of the boards, most notably apparent with Iona, Canisius, is to attack the coaching staff when things go bad. Heck, even one who I consider one of the better coaches, Joe Mihalik of Niagara, is criticized, not for his lack of winning, but for not scheduling up in quality.

I guess it's always easier to blanket the coaches with criticism rather than individual players. As I recall, wasn't too long ago when Dunne was bearing all of the brunt for not making due with the talent on hand. Funny, as Cindy remarked, how the appearances made by the naysayers suddenly become scarce and, if I may boldly suggest, non-rependant, in these better times.
