Subject: Gooding's shot

Regarding Akeem Gooding. Anyone notice how when he shoots a jumper or FT he pulls the ball back over his head about 3/4 of the way. I remember Al McGuire always saying the ball should not leave your line of sight otherwise you won't shoot from the same place twice. Once the ball will be a little farther back once closer, almost like a pitcher without a consistent release point. Some days you'll hit, but mostly likely you will long then short and very inconsistent. I'm no Jerry Hobbie but I've watched this for 2 years now.

Why do you mention Jerry Hobbie?

Probably meant Ernie Hobbie a longtime "shot doctor" who has working with NBA superstars and speaks at summer camps.
