Subject: Next coach.

A previous poster indicated that his three future coach choices would be Boyle, D. Hurley or Bannon. Bannon's been away from the game too long and couldn't handle the RU job, so I don't think he'd do any better at SPC. D. Hurley has it too easy at SBP: since SBP doesn't belong to any organization which has administrative oversight over the program, all he has to do is keep the gym's door open and D1 quality players flock to him. At SPC he'd have to follow NCAA recruiting regs and I don't know if he could readily adjust to that. He easily gets the best players now at SBP; I don't think it'd be that easy for him at the next level.
Boyle would be an interesting choice. He knows how to "recruit" (under NJSIAA guidelines, of course), knows the game and is a good game coach (in my opinion, anyway). The downside, however, is that if he has any success at all at SPC he's gone (to SHU, RU).
Since SPC seems to only hire coaches who live within five miles of the campus, perhaps they can break that pattern and conduct a national search (or at least all up and down the East Coast). The argument that you have to have a coach that knows the local high school talent just isn't holding true at SPC; there's several local kids on the team and the team still stinks.

I see nothing wrong with a coach that will want to move up. Heck, being known as a stepping stone would be the best possible situation for us.
