Wasn't that one of the new words added to Merriam-Webster this past year?

Finkle. Transitive verb. To make a promise and then break it in favor of a presumed better opportunity. "The player finkled the coach at the last minute".( etymology: from old French "Finque", someone who does not keep their word ). Noun. The act of finkling. " The girl's finkle left the geek worrying about a date for the prom.
