Subject: Thomas Jefferson guard

The Big Apple is known for producing talented guards. The Class of 2009 is no exception. One of the best players in New York City is super smooth scorer Keith Spellman from Thomas Jefferson High School.

This past season as a junior, Keith was named 3rd team all-state after leading the Orange Wave in scoring. He took his team to the PSAL semifinals before falling to defending champion Lincoln High School.

This past weekend, Keith had a strong performance for the Juice All-Stars AAU program as they won the Reebok Summer Classic East. In the playoff action that we caught, Keith showed off that premier shooting ability. He's quick and can get into the lane.

He scored off a runner with contact for an old fashioned three point play. Keith also displayed a tough mid range pull up jumper. He proved he can hit very difficult off balance shots as well. He does need to get stronger, but that is often the case with players we encounter.

Being on one of the top programs in this tradition rich city will generate plenty of attention. Keith's abilities have certainly drawn the attention of top notch college programs. As of now, he is looking closely at five schools.

George Mason, Hofstra and St. Peter's have all offered Keith. He also holds offers from local Big East programs St. John's and Rutgers. Keith tells CAA Insider, "I will wait until the end of the summer and see what my options are before making a decision." With some more strong play on the circuit, he may just wind up with more options.

The Johnnies and Rutgers have offered?

I have a better shot at bagging a supermodel.

'Nuff said.
