Colleges are jumping on the Julio Rosario bandwagon while, ironically, the Cardinal McCarrick senior guard is getting ready to leave the back of the bus. He has always played in the shadow of one or more players in high school - last season, he was behind New Jersey's leading scorer, Mike Burwell - but that is changing.

"I'm hungry," the 6-foot-2 1/2, 175-pound combo guard said. "I can't wait for next year. I've been riding the bus my whole career. It's time to come out."

Rosario's 15 points and six rebounds per game as a junior were solid, but Burwell drove the proverbial team bus toward a 24-5 season with a 27-point average. Still, colleges didn't overlook Rosario. He said he has scholarship offers from Central Connecticut, the school his brother, Vince Rosario, has transferred to for this fall, New Hampshire, Monmouth and St. Francis (Pa.) – the latter two of which he has visited unofficially. He adds that he is getting interest from Quinnipiac, Manhattan, Siena, Saint Peter's, Albany, Binghamton, Niagara, Boston University and High Point and plans to be patient with the decision-making process.

Rosario, ranked 37th in the NJ Hoops Class of 2009 rankings, is a much more energetic player than Burwell, especially on the defensive end, where he usually guards an opponent's top scorer in high school games. He is an improving scorer, but has to become a better shooter on the perimeter. The problem with that is he is usually driving to the basket.
