Tenn Martin was out of our hands as a bracketbuster assignment just as Boston U is this year. What I'm talking about is what is in our control. Kids do look at whom you play. It's part of the attraction of things like the Rainbow Classic and even the Holiday Festival, such as it now is. Geez we could even play up vs Hofstra and not use anything more than a bus for transit. I'm troubled by the philosophy behind diluted scheduling, whoever is responsible. It shows that weak wins are what we are aiming for. How did you feel after we beat Rutgers last year?? Shouldn't we aim for more such opportunities? I won't throw back a win vs an NEC team or NJIT for that matter, but it doesn't get us very far in the big picture.

figgyprez, while I agree with your overall point of view, IMO you are a year too early. Few teams "upgrade" their schedule with a freshman and sophmore loaded team. Especially in our situation where the talent level of those players has not yet been clarified. What this Program needs is W's. The schedule is good enough this year (two Big East Teams!). While I have no information,I would guess that next years schedule will be upgraded when the players have more experience under their belts and when existing home and home contracts expire. Think the confidence level needs to be built up. Nothing does that like winning, no matter whom the opponent.

if you can't win more than 7 games in the MAAC, it matters not what you schedule OOC. Coming in 9th or 10th continuously will doom you forever even if you play the top 10 every season. And I seriously doubt the quality ballplayers would want to come just to get on that masochistic train.
Nothing wrong with the current scheduling versus the team we have now.
You actually sound like Leckie, who came in and spouted the need to play the big teams. After a 4 and 5 win seasons he did adjust his views.

Fordham, LaSalle and Hofstra are now "big" teams? The disease of lowered expectations is a killer. I might agree with the idea that I'm a year early, but I still think we must consistently schedule mid level powers if we expect to reassume that status at some point

BTW after Leckie's 4 and 5 win seasons he still scheduled games with Xavier, N. Arizona Hofstra (2X) St. Mary's, W. Virginia, Florida and UMASS and Pitt. I know he had KeeKee by then, but why not follow your philosoohy and just schedule W's? Because we should expect more.Some were reaches but so much for adjusting his views.
