See athletic site.

it reads like a two year extension over his original contract.

Yes. Would be interest in the $'s. May be our first indicator.

While some monies have been released for other important athletic issues, I doubt they would be used much here. If I was to pick a place it would be allocation for the assistants.

Talk was that staff salaries would be raised to at least the levels of the lower tier MAAC Programs. While this initiative may be gradual, one might conject that a two year extension (three year's out), would result in some meaningful attempt/result.

Always felt he was getting an extension, but felt only a year was justified. I don't think it is the three that SPCFan is saying but two years for five total. Not really sure how it impacts recruiting. He only has one to give this year, one next year and one the following. What grace you think occurs from contract extensions would be offset if he loses players to gain more recruits for whatever reason other than academics. So thoughts that some would be leaving add to the negative side and retention of players becomes the issue. That is why I think a shorter extension was better and for a fiscally strapped school, makes more sense. With regard to assistants, the need for more money is the need to attract some experience. Without slighting the current assistants, we have the most inexperienced staff in the league. This impacts all aspects, including recruiting, game planning and personnel handling. Of the current group, the one aspect that I felt was deficient was game planning and management. Most want to blame the players. There was enough missing in the games to wonder if that is the wrong target. I think the recruiting mode is excellent. The problem becomes that recruiting becomes more difficult as losing increases. So when you boil it down, the issues could become more next year and if the same pessimism that most spout here, is still evident, then we would now have two more years of little to look forward too.

Men's hoops: Based on what achievement?
What the F*** is this, Civil Service?
Accountability is old school, I guess.
I want Dunne to succeed as much as anyone on this board, but his own mother wouldn't give him a two year extension based on these results and recruiting so far.
Guess we just learned all we need to know about the Prez.
Don't tell me Cella was right! :>)

Great points, loyal! Dunne has not shown anything to deserve this extension. Stephanie, on the other hand, has certainly proven she deserves it. She has this team on the brink of another MAAC title.

Looks like a three year extension over his original contract giving him 6 years in total. No way this was necessary or merited no matter what your opinion is of the job done so far.
He had one year left on original deal. I had wind of this awhile back when it was first posted about this possibility.I felt a one year extension was a better choice helping him with recruiting but not limiting our options should no improvement still be shown.
New AD now comes in with premier programs at the school locked up without his or her control till they are 4 years into their tenure.
Have been told by those in the know bottom line their isnt any money to do much at SPC no matter what the pres says or may want to do.
On a good note rumors are that some money may be allocated soon to renovate the parking garage and Yanitelli not build a new facility.
If it happens old garage will be fixed and Yanitelli modernized in its seating taking down its number of available seats to around 2500.

My interpretation of the contract article is that since it runs through 2011,and the current contract has one more year to run,its third,2008-2009-then the extension is for two years,2009-2011.

When we will know about the garage repairs and the Yanitelli seating upgrade? This is more important than any contract extension. Please follow up with updates we more comes to light.

I would make the parking garage the priority since lot two will be the site of the new student union building. And I would add a third level for open space and install the necessary structural members to extend the office space of the athletic offices and provide space for rest rooms. The current configuration is a waste of space. The atheletic offices are tiny compared to others on campus and around the building.
The bleachers? They still have a lot of life in them. I would go with a maintenance contract and keep them running.
