It's really hard after two games and 27 minutes to get a good read on Reid.At this point he is second to Bacon in blocked shots with three. My early guess is that he is a good one on one defender, more poised than most as a frosh from the league he played in .Probably a better outside shooter than Akeem although that's not saying much . I doubt he is as good slashing to the basket as Gooding.
Back to Akeem his outside shot and shot selection are poor.Yet in transition and in the paint he can be effective. He is our leading rebounder ,plays good D and will give up his body to take the charge. Given his experience , I would try to play him more than Reid right now.
As far as the three spot goes, when possible I want Jenkins there ,since he should be on the floor the most minutes, and I think the best spot for Leon is at the two with Hall at the one.
Given what I saw yesterday,I would like to see more of Traore's minutes going to Costner. Not only can he rebound better, but he passes very well.
Last year as a frosh in much fewer minutes he took thirteen threes. I've also seen him drain them in high school. He is yet to take one or even a medium range jumper.
I would like to see someone on the staff, possibly John Morton, take both costner and Akeem aside and give them shooting technique instructions.
For Costner it may be just a matter of time and practice, for Akeem, the whole outside shot needs to be revamped---at one for twenty two for his career it's not a good decision to launch any, until his mechanics are worked out.
Little has been said about Mumford. If he emerges as a back up point who can knock down the three it will move Nick out of the one to the two more often.
As I stated in another post, with just three turnovers and eleven assists at the point,Hall is looking better to me all the time. I'd just like to see him shoot a bit more.

Tend to agree with your assessents. My only point was that since Traore is a senior and Gooding, Reid and Costner can play the #3 or #4 why not rotate the latter three.. Think it will give us much more quickness without much of a loss in rebounding. Regarding Mumford, he can hit a few 3's in a row but I've seen him enough that, at best, will be a role player.

Agree that Hall is developing well. He has the floor general role down. Perhaps as his confidence grows he'll become more offensive minded.Yes, he has a good assist/turnover ratio but when you're conserative (Hall) as opposed to aggressive (Leon) that tends to be the case. If Hall can be more aggressive and still have that positive ratio then we will really have something. Assists, as you mentioned previously, are also a function of what the receiving end does with the ball. Both Leon and Hall would have more assists if our bigs converted better.Hall, as you've seen, has the ability to score 8-10pts. Could be an important piece in next year's puzzle if he continues to develop. Wednesday, LIU.
