I agree that attendance has slipped since the fiore era and the program hasn't recovered from the free ticket years when we were the only d1 school to have free tickets (blind years)...

When i was a kid going to games (75-85) yanitelli had much more of a buzz -- there was a pep band, more than three cheerleaders and dukiets games although sometime 'boring' with no shot clock and defense oriented were seen by many more people...there has always been a lack of student support, but it seems like the school has done NOTHING to attract the alumni and local community.

there used to be little parties and gatherings for different alumni (class of 99, etc.) now NOTHING

fiores teams drew ok crowds and competing for ncaa and nit bids helped down the strech for important MAAC games... now after 10 years of below average the program is feeling the affects...

the other problem is the league -- its just not as good as it used to be and the league was much more local -- West Point, Fordham, Holy Cross all had nice NYC alumni fan bases and drew nice crowds -- no offense to Loyola or the buffalo folks, but i don't personally know one niagara or canisius grad to invite to a game --

lasalle, fordham, the cross and others leaving were all major blows to the league
