Today the Peacocks, shot well, got to the line 30 times,Lampley and Leon penetrated,Todd dominated, and they were able to finish strong.

Congrats! Kids played hard and did not look like a team that had packed it in for the season. All played well. Orta continues to struggle offensively but his play on defense and away from the ball continues to impress. Steals, diving after loose balls (twice) and took control of the ball when Manhattan pressed.

Reality is that Manhattan is not a good team and our assist/turnover ratio ( 9/22 ) was the worst of the season. But we'll take the win and the improved play of each player. Dunne has also been more active on the sidelines, called some timely timeouts and should get some credit for having the team ready to play. All that said it was only one game.

Agree with oldtimer on each point. Perhaps game is an indication that current class has useful talent but is by no means the full answer. Really helped that vets like Sowell, Orta and Gooding (especially on boards and D) played like vets taking pressure off kids. If Sowell had played with such passion of Friday we might have gone 2-0 this weekend.

I had a similar observation....but figured "piling on" was pointless....Sowell was "out of it" for the first 30 minutes Friday, no doubt.

I can't say I blame him for being discouraged, given he has busted his butt for most of the season, but Friday's "no mas" defensive rebounding effort until the final 10 minutes vs. Iona was palpable. He could have been under the weather, who knows?

Glad the team got a "W". Would love to see Iona again in the play in game (how's that for adjusting expectations lower?) then get a rematch with Rider....Sowell would be stoked for that one.

$64,000 Question.....will Lampley be able to play the point effectively for a top tier MAAC club? I have already concluded Leon does not have it in him. Nice to get a win, but assist/turnover ratio yesterday was more problematic than usual.
