Re Jenkins...played a team high 36 minutes!!! Needed a brief break.Re Bacon...Was having defensive problems against a perimeter shooting team. With the lead ,protecting it made sense to have our best defender in,Gooding.
Re next to last possession with 10 sec, down one. Dunne is able to isolate Lampley who beats his man to the hoop and misses the layup.
Critical to the loss were Todd miss on front end of one and one and Goodings two missed free throws as well a a questionable ,rare palming call on Jenkins when he was isolating.
In general ,I still believe this team is much better than a month ago.Offensive sets are more varied,Jenkins able to find room to shoot in this offense.
Unbelievable to see Spitler race the length of the court BEHIND the scorer's table.
Loyal is correct about number of turnovers, still too high, but those that result from agressive uptempo game are more forgivable than those from weak passes stolen as were two inbounds passes today.

Cindy, excellent analysis.

Loss to BU left me sick, but as one who has been very critical of Lampley here I must say that he is starting to get it. I don't think he had any forced shots and while he still dribbles into lane trouble and gets stuck there, I think he is starting to figure it out. Handle still too loose and lack of height will always cause trap problems, but I still see a light. Leon makes fewer errors but now seems to be trying too few things, but that's ok too if it means that he is starting to see what not to do. We lost mostly because #5 guy can't make layups. He must have missed more shots this season than any big in SPC annals. Also the fact that there is no payoff when the post gets fed must be frustrating for the guards as well. He's a good kid, tries to play, but lacks any athleticism.

Agree about Lampley. Talk about player development and I'd cite Darrell as a good example. IMO he's gone from an often out of control, shoot first, pass if necessary type of player, to one who is trying to play the role of a team player. The bad news that we have to live with, is that his turnovers will probably increase (see Boston U game ). Hard to have too many turnovers when hoisting up all those shots. Think both the staff and Darrell deserve some credit. Dunne's decision to give Darrell the ball with only 4 seconds left was also the right coaching move. Agree with Cindy that both the team and staff looked better.

Two caveats. First, I'm not quite ready to call DL's transformation complete.Time will tell. Second, while he is squaring up better and making some shots he is still a low percentage shooter and one who has difficulty scoring when he penetrates. Not just referring to his missed open layup against Boston U ( shit happens) but that's the way it's been all year. The question, in my mind, is what are the staff's thoughts on a point guard.

Noticed that Iona signed Machado, the kid I liked, even though they have an overabundance of guards. Still no question in my mind that we need Machado's type of player to play point no matter how Nick and Darrell develop. However, if no such player becomes available Dunne might try to go next year with the guards we have. A mistake in my mind. Guess it all depends on what is out there. We still have holes to fill.

Agree Cindy. Pretty much on the button.
Also prior to the Lampley miss at 13 second mark down one we missed an open 10 footer in the lane by Leon after a nice drive to the hoop move at about the 1 minute mark when we still lead by one.BU came down and scored to take the lead on the next posession. After Lampley's miss on the next possession we fouled and they hit both at 4 second mark to lead by 3. Lampley missed a desperation 40 footer at the buzzer for the tie.
