We will go 13 and are still recruiting a big man. We are only at 13 if one leaves and Conley qualifies. As you have said, we will have someone leave. Qualification is a scary word and sometimes broader than people think. One can be qualified and not be admitted to school.

I know you wrote off Sutton, but a Rivals site just had an article dated 5/13 and lists SPC along with Fordham, Manhatten, College of Charleston, and Tulane as offering. I am not sure he has the numbers as yet, but strange that we still get mentioned in current interviews.

Think the academic deficieny excuse is nothing more than spin. Since a point is given for good standing in a particular semester, it would be hard to get down to 910 with only transfers out that were in good standing thus only losing the retention points. Hell a review of Iona will show many who had no right to be in school. They would need six players to leave in good standing to match 3 who fail out at our place. I don't think the numbers come close to that ratio. In Dunne's two years the only academic failure was McRae, while Owes, Spann, Brock and Martin were all still eligible to play when they left. Hell even Leckie's issue with Sowers , was not a failure as Sowers was still academically eligible when pushed off the team. And when you boil it down, due to privacy laws, schools will never give out information on pass/fail of a student. Therefore the apologists will say anything they think makes them look better as there will be nothing to substantiate either case.

Unless someone has left I count a full roster of 13 scholarship players:

Bacon
Costner
Gooding
Hall
Hill
Hogga
Jenkins
Lampley
Leon
Mumford
Reid
Shumate
Traore

"As you have said, we will have someone leave. " This is always open to conjecture and the reports and sightings of various SPC staff at recent senior events of unsigned players leaves that as a very highly potential case.

To consider Conley still in the mix. Don't believe a Prop will apply here. Sutton is a real stretch despite the mention on Rivals. More likely a result of the C.J. connection. Don't believe we have any further academic issues aboard, thus the watch on the deserter(s).

No further explanation on the APR's, Iona, as you note, is the league standard for the unqualified, but bear in mind the time period and the uncharacteristic class of Soliver, Burtt, McCullough (sp), and Waschmann (sp).

You might be wrong on one. There is one remaining issue outstanding.

I think the word deserter is more applicable. But with that and Conley's avbailable there is room for one more and they are hunting. So Sutton could still be in play unless you have very real reason why not. The Fordham people say he is fully qualified, but I don't think so and he is waiting, or he would have signed somwwhere already. By the way the funny part of the interview, SPC was the first school mentioned.

Doesn't matter on the outstanding class as they only got 16 out of 16 for those four with 52 points out there for a 13 ship class. I am sure we got many 16 out 16 in all our years. If you look at this past year, we would have 44 out of 44 for 11 ships and 3 out of four for the deserter if he passes this semester. That would give us a .98 for last season.
