Why not start tonight. I started 2 weeks ago. Something is not right and it is not the 7 freshmen..Tonight's effort was the worst of the year. I thought we were supposed to get better as the season went on not worse? So far IMO coach Dunne has shown little to be op[timistic about. Also what is the story on Bacon?

No true point....steep curve for Leon and certainly Lampley learning to dish first vs. shoot. Also, Gooding, as hard as he tries, is ineffective in a half court offense...zero threat outside 8 feet. Hard to get ball flow with those limitations + Todd's deliberate "style".

Wonder if we have to recruit over both players (at the point)? Hard to say, because both are frosh making a difficult transition. Leon shows flashes of being a dependable point, but then turns around and looks silly vs. a trap. Will experience help? Very hard for me to form a conclusion, so I won't for now. Big decision for Dunne, as I am sure he'd prefer to use the remaining two for frontcourt players.

Fran really does have Siena moving the ball around well...hard not to see the contrast....(sigh)

SPC's players are not skilled to be playing at even this low Division One level. This group can stay together for the next five years and they still wouldn't be competitive with the rest of the MAAC teams. They would be nice D2 or D3 players, but not D1.

There is not one aspect of their game that is positive or encouraging. They just can't compete.

You can't make any changes because you're stuck with the personnel you already have.

It's been casually brought up before, but SPC doesn't press, ever! (One poster did say there was a short stretch in the Lehigh game where the press was utilized and worked a bit.). Tonight, SPC is getting the krapp kicked out them from start to finish and the only wrinkle put in the game is a constant parade of guards being shuttled in and out: hardly a tactic to stage a roaring comeback!

A number of you posters insist that real progress IS being made, but a 4-26 record is a looming possibility and it isn't going to improve in the future.

(PS: Over 4,000 fans were at the game. I don't think SPC draws 4,000 fans for its entire home season. I would guess that it's the lowest in the entire MAAC.) As a previous poster noted: It's ugly!

Get a grip-Tonight's game was the worst of the season but to say we can not be competive with the rest of the MAAC is way over the top. We beat Canisius, lost in OT to FF andgot beat on a buzzerbeater at Manhattan--that already is competitive.Even in a down year a Rutgers win is still a good one, wagner is at the top of their conference and the Providence game went down to the final minute.
Most have forgotten their own words when they said this team would have it's ups and downs. No one said they would be equal in number. There will still be some surprising wins and quite a few horrible losses.
I suspect though most of the negativism comes from impatience but more likely those who not so secretly want to see the Peacocks fail.
Does anyone believe that this year's team wouldn't beat last year's edition almost every night.

The title of the thread says it best. We have some serious concerns here and they need to be acknowledged. To assume this offense actually generates shots is missing something. The only thing I can see is a weight reduction program for Orta who runs like a gerbil on treadmill. The Fairfield game was atrocious particularly the end game and it would appear the only games we can be competitive in are the low D1 specialties, like Canisius and we didn't exactly garner accolades for that performance. Even the Wagner game had a gift wrapped in it at the end.

In the end, Dunne needs to hire someone who understands offense more than he has demonstrated so far.

I asked it before, is the problem the players are not what we thought they were or does the coach really understand game plan and offensive planning. Think about, it would appear he took Oldtimer's advise and had Sowell go to the high post which is expected to generate open threes. None. Just the typical motion play hoping for an opening. One would think he had no clue to, what is characterized as a mediocre ( Siena) defense, do with it.
