Subject: New Jersey High School Player Of The Week

See today's Star-Ledger. Story says LIU. FDU. Adelphi, Felician, and Bloomfield College. He told me FDU, Monmouth, Wagner, and Saint Peters.

I'll keep an open mind about Grace, since I've necer seen him play. But geez, another 5foot nothing guard on a team that has 3 already? It's not like SPC is in a rcruiting battle with major conferences for him. He's probably very good, but with so much need for size and better athleticiism at the 3,4 and 5 and with 3 little guards already, can we afford him unless he is in the KEE KEE class? He has to be good enough to immediately make the team run better, a bit like Frensley did. But without better bigs, how wpuld that happen anyway? We might be better served letting Leon etc grow up.

Recruiting Grace does not prohibit them from recruiting big men.Your reasoning is not worthy of even a third grader. Please!!!!!The key is his quality.

How many "Stellar quality" little guards does SPC need? They need a big, mobile center and a couple of big, mobile forwards. And I'm not talkking about players that are 6'6" 180 lbs. Unfortunately, big mobile frontline players are hard to come by; for some reason the gravitate to the Big East, ACC, Big Ten and Pac 10 programs.

Perhaps you have not hreard of the NCAA scholarship limit? Look at the roster and tell me that the precious few grants left should not be spent in the frontcourt to replace Sowell, help Bacon and make Gooding / Costner a 7th man or so. No sense talking about Traore.Sure there are 2 new guys coming so far, but with this roster I'd spend my money up front.

Dell, is absolutely correct. Key is not just big but mobile and hopefully a good passer. As he said, hard to find. Outstanding "little guards" are available every year. No knock on Grace but why would Dunne want to throw in the towel this early on Lampley or Leon? There reputations were as good and there is no evidence as of yet that they will not contribute. Why start all over with a new guy? To paraphrase one of my non-heros: 'it's the inside game stupid'. And if there is a need at guard get a complimentary player I.e. 6'2". They are out there also.

I understand your dilema. Seton Hall is in the same boat.
I need to see the new East Orange Campus power forward.
He could be the one.

Forget about Grace. The player that SPC should go after is Yvon Raymond! A high-powered swingman that the team desperately needs. Excellent presence the entire 94 feet.

Good point. I think he only 6-2, but he can jump. Here is a guy totally under the radar. Raymond is a very good player. Explosive and a phenominal defender.
