Just back from AC. With all due resprect to my old friend Peacock, I would have predicted his call for Lampley to start over Leon as soon as this last game was over. Did we scrap the idea that Lampley could perhaps make his best contribution at #2. Poor Leon, several very good to outstanding games and two stinkers and some want him out! Inconsistant, definitely but better performances at point this year than anyone else.

That said, it may surprise to know that I am not necessarily in total disagreement. Perhaps things need to be shaken up, if only for changes sake. And why not give DL another chance to play point? I say another because DL has played a lot at point this year. Even started a game there. Let's just not pretend that he hasn't had his chances already.

However, let me remind our astute posters that some statements made above are not true. First, not true that Leon's only decent games were against low level teams. Had a great game against Providence and decent against several other good teams. Other than that we have only played against teams that both Leon and Lampley both have been less than spectacular.

As far as stats are concerned let me repeat the following statement made several weeks ago. Leon is a better shooter than Lampley. A poor shooter does not shoot Leon's percentage from the foul line. The kid can shoot. If you don't believe me go to a few practices and observe them first hand. Darrell is a scorer, more than shooter. Second, Leon drives to the basket and finishes the better of the two. Game after game, for those who have attended, has demonstrated this. Finally, Nick, to date, has more of a point guard mentality than DL. Only two games ago most of us were talking how Darrell might find his niche at #2. On Darrell's behalf, there is no question that his most valuable role is energy and explosiveness. If he ever began to penetrate and kick out his contribution could be tremendous. But the truth is that he hasn't been able to do that yet.

So there it is, changing the lineup is always a consideration when things are going this poorly. Let's just not begin to say things that aren't necessarily true. Again with due respect, what are these intangibles that one possesses and the other does not? And what is the meaning of aggressive? Simple words as "aggressive" often have different intrepretations. One persons view of agressiveness as a positive sign is another man's chucker.

Bottom line for me is that I'm getting tired of this Nick and Darrell thing. May surprise some to know that they seem to get along well and root for each other. Try Darrell but I still agree with Peacock's original proposition that his greatest potential is at #2. Don't even know if Nick is our long term solution at #1. Must also be confusing to Darrell "do you want me pass, or shoot or score ?". Needs to know his role.

One last point, I strongly agree with a post Sludge made very early on. I don't care WHO is at point but I don't want to see the inordinate amount of shots taken from that position that we have taken thus far this year. Ridiculous, to have that many shots taken by either to date. If either Lampley or Leon is going to play point I want assists not guys who shoot such low percentages combined with low assist totals. Check out the Marist box score and see how many assists we got from that position.

Don't want to make these guys the whipping boys. The entire team is not playing well. I'd rather root for all of them to put it together whether it's Orta, Jenkins, Leon , Lampley , Gooding, Sowell etc. We all have our favorites but right now we need everyone to play better. Winning has a way yielding positive posts. That's what I want.

for the lack of offense. We can beat around the bush all we want, but something deeper is wrong than just talking about players. Four of the last five game, Fairfield, Canisius, Siena and Marist they came out if they were surprised at what they faced.

As far as Leon goes, you still ignore his rather poor passing issues. Not inconsistent, but continuing. Also name the good teams he has those great games against. Hope you don't say LIU or FDU.

When things go as bad as they have,as you say there are plenty of questions to be asked. Assume that they are being asked internally as well. Let's see what develops.

With regard to your second point,I strongly indicated that the point guard position, no matter who has played it, generates too many shots and too little assists (passes as you say). That is the point we seem to miss in the Lampley/Leon discussion.
