After shooting 57% from three in the first half when they led by as many as 19...38-19. They took a 45-31 lead into the locker.Leon 4 threes,Lampley 3 threes.
Cold shooting at the start of the second half put them down 60-58 at the seven minute mark.SPC battled back on key baskets by Orta and Sowell-who rebounded well but really struggled from the field, and crunch time free throws from Leon.
The savior in the second half had to be Jenkins who added 12 points to his 6 in the first half for a game high 18.
Peacocks made eleven threes--Leon 4-Jenkins and Lampley three and Orta one.
Peacocks made 23-35 from the line where Raul notched his 1000th point
Great to see them come back in the last five minutes after blowing the big lead.Hopefully we are seeing the start of the maturation process.

43 points and 11 rebounds from the 3 frosh guards. At this stage, this team needs that kind of production from the 1 and 2.

Also glad to see the coaching staff working hard. Several timeouts in the second half in an attempt to stop the momentum and the offensive/defensive switches of Orta and Spitler.

We blew a 19 point lead and beat the WORST team in the MAAC! It is good to win but lets not start thinking it was anything more than just a win over a team that is worse than we are. I saw nothing at all to be optimistic about.

Nick,I'm not surprised that you would see little to be optimistic about since you have always been a glass is half empty sort of guy.
But in order to blow a 19 point lead you have to build one first and the Peacocks player a very good first half. What's more important is they recovered after having lost momentum on the road and closed out strong.
Canisius is the worst team in the league, but we aren't. Yet they do hold wins of 28 points over Fairfield and an eight point win over Niagara.
No one is holding a ticker tape parade but the wins over Manhattan and Canisius show an improvement in the ability of this young team to close out games.
Wins over BU and Manhattan ,a probable PIG foe, would continue the uptick.

Half full versus half empty..We are identically different but I fear the team is on the road to nowhere.. Why is Spitler playing so much while Lampley plays only 15 minutes? Trying to see what he will do next year??

Thank God for Canisius.....not many wins left on the schedule but I'd be a lot more optimistic for next year if they could find one more....that would be a sign of real improvement among the freshmen.

Cindy, you didn't mention defense. They're allowing 72 points a game on the season, not a great number....somewhere out there Bob Dukiet is either crying his eyes out - or - laughing his ass off.

SPC went on a 25-3 run in the first half so I assume the defense was at it's best. They also clamped down in the last five minutes, but as with any struggling, young team consistancy is the problem.
Funny that you mention Dukiet. Thank God that there was no message board when he was coach. His slow down ,defensive brand was not popular at all. And he was winning.

A lot more people went to games when Dukiet was the coach.

I. for one, loved his Princeton style of play...is there a prettier play in bball than a back door lay-up?

No doubt some of our finest wins came under Dukiet, but more fans hated him than liked him. They were still in love with Run Baby Run.The fact that they were there was just a residual from a different time.
If you go by attendance, there were more people in the Okene years and they were dreadful.
The many reasons have been discussed but attendance has been in decline since the 60s.

from the stats, Ryan Bacon did not take a shot but in 23 had 7 rebounds including 2 offensive,4 assists, no TOs,one block and one steal. This is the kind of play I remember from RU summer league. Seems like solid sign for the future from such a good get by us. A great kid to root for that you hope develops the other aspects of his game over Peacock career.
