Subject: observations on hs dblhdr at rlc

Some courtside notes from hs classic at rlc. Entire SPC staff courtside all night. St B's G Tamir Jackson has talent though inconsistent with shot, but good speed, handle. St. B's soph Thompson will be a big recruit- long, athletic now with not much show on offense yet. Frosh guard Kabongo is super quick great handle and FT shooter. St A's Bol will probably look to prep, but at 6-8 SPC I hope is active with him. Benedictine bigs are hard to judge since so much goes through Davis (UNC) and StB's was really a lot better. AM.C PG guard Kelly is good and PG Spivey is second coming of Brandon Brock for all you waistlined challenged out there Interesting bigs at Am C, Erwin and Matthews both big and long but not relied upon too much. Was interested to see Jay Wright there all night since he has inteest in both Echinique and Evans. Also SHU's Bobby G and Norm Roberts among others. Was a good opportunity for see and be seen for SPC staff but NCAA probobly limited wahat they could say to anyone including coaching staffs.

First NJ high school games I have seen. Extremely impressed with St. B's Michado (sp?). Showed me exactly what we are missing and what we definitely need. Over 6' great handle, a floor general and SEES the floor exceptionally well. Also penetrates at will. A floor general with good size and a college basketball body

Leon and Lampley have skills and assets that will contribute over the next three years but both are basically #2's in #1 bodies. If I had to pick out their main shortcoming is that they do not see the floor well as most point guards.

Machado's shot is fair but that is not what we need in a point. We need a smart, physical, a great handle who can penetrate and dish. This kid had those assets.

You are correct in assessment of Machado. Hard to evaluate his own shooting since his purpose is to run team and make sure Samuels and Echenique get the ball, which he did well. St.A's Cheek is a stud
