COLLEGE-BOUND: As he piles up the points and the headlines, the Division I scouts are hot on Mike Burwell's trail.

The senior from Cardinal McCarrick has been offered a scholarship by a host of small Division I schools such as New Hampshire, Monmouth, Wagner, Iona, FDU and Central Connecticut.

But when the Eagles took on St. Joseph in the championship game of the GMCT final on Friday and when they take on Bishop Eustace in the opening round of the NJSIAA Tournament on Friday, coaches from Colorado, Marquette, Bradley, Notre Dame, Penn State, San Diego, Old Dominion, Michigan, Fordham, George Washington, Seton Hall and others could be in the house.

Teammate Julio Rosario, a junior, has already been offered a scholarship from Central Connecticut, Monmouth, New Hampshire and St. Francis (Pa.).

Desmond Wade of Linden has accepted a scholarship to the University of Houston, while teammate David Bruce, a 6-foot-9 junior, has been offered by Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. Joseph's, St. John's, Houston and LaSalle.

Colonia' senior point guard Brandon Hall is being recruited by Division II schools such as Bloomfield, Felician and Caldwell.
