Subject: Another influence for "The X-Files" ?

I was flipping through a book published a couple of years ago about TV series that are available video. Naturally, I looked up the entry for "The X-Files".
One thing that surprised me was that it said the show was obviously influenced by "The Night Stalker" (which *everybody* knows, because CC talks about it constantly) and a sci-fi novel called "The Puppet Masters" by Robert Heinlein.
I've heard of Heinlein, but this is the first I've ever heard of this particular novel of his and certainly the first I've heard of it being a factor in the creation of XF. Has anybody ever read this? Does anybody know if CC has cited it as one of his influence's in creating XF or if its "obvious" influence on XF was just the opinion of the person who was writing the book?
