Like you, det, I haven't been too fond of most of the characters DD has played up til now (other than Mulder, of course!). But he was so exceptionally good in this movie. Minnie Driver was cute and good, but nowhere near David's standard, IMO. The movie was wonderful. The part that tore me up was the dog. And how a year later he was still refusing to leave that door.
And that dog, oh, how I want that dog. And if his owner wants to come along too... .well that would just be okay by me.
Overall a heartwarming, funny and at times sad movie. I loved it.
