This is the first film she has directed. I don't know for sure if she's taken part in writing any other films.
Mostly she's known for televsiion. She's a very good friend of David Letterman's and his productiopn company has helped put some of her TV series on the air. The last one was called The Building and was really funny. For some reason though they don't promote her shows enough and they end up getting cancelled due to low viewership. Maybe her humor is just too sophisticated for the masses. Sometimes the best TV shows don't make it while garbage stays on the air for years!
She's also always very funny on talk shows and stuff. She makes a great guest. I'm glad she's gotten a break with this film. I think I read she's been offered a deal to make a couple more movies.
You may know her as an actress in other films. She was the wife in the Beethoven (the Saint Bernard) movies which is where she met and became friends with DD. She was also in Jumanji, Jerry McGuire and The Green Mile.
