Oh. MY. Stars. What a sight to see!! Duchovny is just so flat-out drooling wonderful, his acting as well as his looks, in this film!! Get thee to a theater CW!! It's worth the drive! In fact, stay and see it twice! That ought to bliss you out to where you don't even remember the drive home!
Now I admit I went into this film with some trepidation. I don't watch "chick" flics; don't like sappy love stories; and frankly, didn't like DD in some of the teasers I had seen. I had read there is nothing new or original in the movie; that is was a variation of a theme, yada, yada, yada.

Well. OK. It works and works very well. All the positive things you've read about this movie are true. If this film doesn't catapult DD's acting career as the new romantic lead movie star, and flood him with movie offers, I will be surprised. Very surprised. People who have never seen the xfiles are going to be saying, "who _was_ that guy!" This movie is going to be BIG. I saw the first matinee showing on a Saturday and there was a fairly large crowd for that time. I know 'cause that's the only time I go to the movie. There were a few men here and there, but far, far many more women. I wasn't the _only_ middle-aged woman who went alone to see it. I would say 1/3 of the audience were women alone.
And yes, you do not see Mulder not one time. This is a completely different, and wonderful, DD. I think I fell in love all over again. sigh Have I not mentioned how flat-out gorgeous he is in this movie? It's true. It's very distracting because I just kept staring. I had to eat lots of popcorn to soak up the drool...

That's an interesting idea for episodes. I think your idea could work just fine, if they wanted to be that dedicated. I've read they film different parts to different episodes during the same shooting week, so the very logistics of planning and timing might be a nightmare. But it's an interesting idea anyway. You never know, maybe someone will see your ideas!!
Interesting how your daughter is now a fan. My experience is exactly the opposite. My son and daughter began watching with the first ep, and really liked the first couple of years, and I actually had someone to talk XF with! Then gradually lost interest. My son, a huge Babylon 5 fan, dismisses it with "It stinks". My daughter got lost in the mytharc and just gave up. Neither of them ever liked the MSR. Daughter is now watching the MOTW eps only when there's not something else to watch with her hubby who had _never_ watched TXF (!!), and they esp. like any of the lite-hearted episodes. sigh Where did I go wrong....
As for Star Trek, well, I'm an Original Trekker, and for a long time I just haven't been able to get interested. Don't know why.
