They did shoot at, and apparently hit, one of the mothmen. But whether it dropped dead immediately, was only wounded, was fatally wounded but managed to run further into the woods before it died or what was never made clear. Also, the whole episode centered on the mothmen being able to camouflage themselves and having something like 100,000 acres of woods to hide in, and I'm not sure the camouflage would necessarily have ended when it died, so I guess looking for one dead mothmen in all that forest would have been like looking for a needle in a haystack.
BTW, I think I'll take back my earlier statement about me being more "into" XF than my hubby. He got me season six of XF on DVD for Chritmas and I *LOVE* it, but given my choice we'd watch maybe three eps a week in order to keep the experience going for a couple of months. However, we've watched six episodes since Christmas night, and will probably watch more tonight, because every time I turn around he's suggesting we watch "my" XF DVDs. I can hardly say I don't want to, 'cause then he'd think I don't like my present, so I guess I'll have the whole season watched by the time my kids go back to school next Monday.
