I think Mulder was trying to do his job but knew that since nobody was talking and UNTIL somebody started to talk, Googaluck was going to walk. He had to push the envelopoe a bit more than usual to proove that Googie was the bad guy. The ending was a nice jab at society and the drive to "keep up appearances" I thought.

I loved the scenes where Mulder was standing, watching for somebody to straighten up his mailbox and then missed it because he had to use the bathroom. The conversations between Mulder and Scully were so fun to watch as well. The toilet seat reference, greenish facial on her face were especially funny. It was just a nice change of pace and yet an XFile episode with some of its expected scare factor.
