This is probably my favorite "scary" eps of XF. (Generally speaking, my fave eps tend to be the more lighthearted ones, like "The Unnatural" or "Triangle" or "Detour".) It also left a lot unexplained at the end of the ep, which is one of the things an XF ep is supposed to do. . .let the viewers draw their own conclusions as to who was "right" about what was going on. Although, quite frankly, Mulder and Scully spent so much of this ep saying "No, you're right, I was the one who was mistaken" and switching over to each other's viewpoints so frequently that by the end I was a little confused as to which of them was advocating what theory.
Naturally, being me, I loved the "Agent Scully's already in love" line. Regardless of whether Padgett was psychic or had just watched Scully intently enough to be aware of her emotions, he was definitely capable of recognizing the truth that Scully herself kept denying. I also really liked the ending, where Scully just keeps trying to hold Mulder closer. It was a nice change from what we saw in some of the earlier seasons ("Irressitible" springs to mind) where she seemed to feel that occasionally needing the comfort of her partner's embrace was something she should be embarrassed about.
