baseball? GOOD
aliens? GOOD
Scully laughing? GOOD

I thought this episode was just all around really tight. Tightly written, tightly acted, everything.

After "all things" aired, I made comments (can't remember if it was here or somewhere else) that the comparison between the two shows proves not only how talented Duchovny is at writing but also how well trained. I got a lot of flak for it, but I haven't changed my mind. While, in my opinion, Gillian Anderson's script was cliche laden and reflected Gillian Anderson and not Mulder and Scully, Duchonvy's script is, for the most part, original and it plays very true to Mulder and Scully and The X-Files. And for me to choose anything Duchovny related over anything Anderson related is a big step for me.

As far as the story itself, I love baseball and I love the idea of it being capable of turning an alien into a human. I also love Jesse Martin from Law & Order, and thought he played the part really well. We've never seen aliens show any humanity, any emotion, and regret for their lifestyle, and here we get all of that. It was great. Telling the story from the opposition's side. It was what they tried to do in Hungry but failed miserably.
