Didn't he later deny that they were attracted/interested in each other? Chemistry can be platonic and I think CC acknowledged that but later wiggled out of their ever being anything romantic possible between them.

Episodes like The Host were much better than the later episodes because the mutants were plausible. Toward the end there some of the things happening were way too farfetched and not even explained.
