at the end with the "monster under the bed" scene. Every kid has a nightmare of a monster somewhere in the room--sort of like the advertisement for one wireless telephone. The monster in the closet who still terrorized the guy trying to take a picture of him. Hilarious.

I saw the Mothman Prophecies but if there is a connection between the characters, it's pretty vague. The individuals in Detour were supposedly decendants of early explorers who had adapted to their surroundings, while, if I remember right, the Mothman was more of a character like spiderman who was a mutant of some sort who came out to do protect the innocent.
