So where in Sweden was Anna domiciled? I have some vague recollection that it was not in one of the bigger cities.

I suppose the name Amanda could have been invented to respect the childs privacy. Considering the connection to 'Miss Amanda Jones', I can see why it would have been used as an alias in a book, and I can see a reason not to have named her child Amanda. (It is a most unNorselike name anyway.) Any rough idea how old 'Amanda' would be?

Maybe Anna's 'fantasy world' is a result of the constant scrutiny on her, and her desire to distance her mind from that fateful night she happened to be a part of the cover up of Brian's death. You will notice from the accounts of the night, that Anna wasn't present when the discovery of Brian's body was made, so it is perfectly feasible that her account of the night is accurate, simply because she was unaware of the drama which was unfolding elsewhere on the property. Who knows what she knew then as opposed to what she has subsequently learned/been told to learn.

On the takes I've seen of Anna talking about Brian's death, the words she uses, her body language and her delivery have a tiredness about them that have no conviction that she has any belief in what she is saying. She seems to be on the edge of despair, as if what she is talking about is somehting that happened a short time ago, not decades ago. I just can't believe that she could still be so grief stricken, and she hasn't qualified her sense of loss after all of this time.
