Delilah, thanks for your question, unfortunately I did not see the stones in the 60's i was 8 when Brian died but i remember the 60's very well.in may 1968,my older brother went to the Miami Pop Festival held at Gulf Stream Park and saw jimi- never forgaive him for not taking me(grins)but of all the groups in the 60's , i saw 'Iron butterfly only, they were rehearsing for the Miami Pop Festival on a flat bed trailer in the field behind my grade school and i remember it very well, the cops showed up and told them that they had to stop as neighbors must have complained about the noise and gathering of lots of teenagers-in 1984 i seen them at a swapmeet and i got to talking with their photographer and told him how i saw them in may 68 and he went to their mobile home and said there's this guy who said that he saw you rehearsing by a grade school for the Miami Pop Festival and they said yes we remember that and the guys says man this guy was only 7 and he remembers and I was 14 and I don't remember(grins)anyways on Brian,i was lucky to have older brother's & cousins, while growing up as a kid as my brothers brought all the Stones and Beatles records when they came out- and I can remember when all the lp's came out because they played them over and over,I remember playing in a sand box at 10 in 71 and the music i was playing in my head was The Who 'Live at Leeds'-talk about great sand box music!i do remember most of the stones 60's brian era lp's when they came out to around back to 64,i remember liking 'gloria' by them and the Kinks greatest hits songs like 'set me free',the animals greatest hits, like all the british invasion stuff, man to hear 'a day in the life' on the radio at 6 like hearing I am the walrus' was mesmerizing! I remember the Beatles Revolver LP being played alot and especially Aftermath-i can remember when Honky Tonk Women came out and 'Come Together',man i remember that summer of 69 like it was last night-man what happened in 2 months!,Brian died, the men landed on the moon on july 20th,woodstock-aug69 and the manson murders! and I remember rare 60's songs like 'Hot Smoke And Sasafrass'-by 'The Bubble Puppy'-remember that one! i did remember also in 69 many times when my older sister and my other sister and i would go into abandoned hippy houses and see all the wall painted real groovy and seeing the square kites.I can remember my brother playing 'Through The Past Darkly' all the time-it had a big effect on me-even as a kid '2000 light years from home' was awesome!!-the spacey sounds and like the paino part on the beginging where it sounds kinda scary to a kid like a piano dropping-that's what my school mates though!it really hit home in 73 when my brother was baby sitting me and my sister and he was playing 'Though the Past Darkly' and show me the inside pics of the stones laying on the ground and told me that Brian died and the album was dedicated to him-I remember looking at Brian pics and really felt for him but thought that he look cool and I wanted to be like him,Today i still have that actual Lp I like to pull it out to think wow this is the record that started it all so in that sense it's sentimental to me,I became an instant fan,I remember before i had my own stereo that i had this small cassette player recorder and I held the microphone next to the speaker because i just had to get Aftermath on tape!wasn't the greatest recording but least i had Aftermath on tape! i loved all the songs, i since got all the lp's and was hooked and got any stones book or magazine i could about the stones-yes Brian was my teenage guitar hero(grins) i do remember when NBC have like a 25th anniversary thing on tv in 1977,my mom was watching it in the living room while i was watching it in my bedroom-then they showed a stones clip with Brian-i was mesmerized,my mom was yelling to me, Brian's on tv and i didn't hear her as I was glued watching Brian for the first time and i thought he was the coolest and baddest-yes my friends liked their Kiss,Aerosmith and Rush not that i didn't but I loves the stones music the best & felt Brian was just the coolest rock star(grins)I must have had a different ear than most my age because I loved and knew all the Brian era stones songs by i was 16 and could hum every song on any of their first 14 lp's up to get yer ya ya's out.yes i've been a Brian fan for like 34 years now and what's amazing is the music of the Brian era still sounds timeless and I still listen to the songs all the time, tomorrow it might be Aftermath, then 'Though The Past Darkly' the next day then 'Between the Buttons' or 'the Rolling Stones Now' or 'Let It bleed'.my mom used to say that i should have been born 20 years earlier(grins) sorry to ramble on about my Brian stones history but i just love to talk about the music and the man that started it all Brian Jones
