I also think it's important, but it's not up to us. I was thinking about that as I had to go downtown today on an emergency errand.

His parents are both in their 90s. They have already buried two of their three children and it is just possible that at this late stage in their lives, they do not want to have to reopen the wounds.

Or maybe they are comfortable with the 1969 verdict.

I was thinking about another thing on my way to downtown: why did Brian put up with Frank's antics for so long? He was obviously not happy with the work being (or not being) done. So why didn't he call the Stones' office and ask them to "recall" Frank since they had sent him in the first place?

And since he was apparently on good terms with the local folks, why did he not ask around the village for someone to come over to Cotchford and do the work he required instead of calling on the Stones' office (especially considering how his relationship with the group had deteriorated at that point)? Or why did he not ask Mary Hallett, who he seemed to have considered a sort of surrogate mother, if she could recommend anyone?

This is all stuff that is very puzzling to me.
