Is there any real proof in relation to the many murder theories that is publicly known? I'm not trying to get at you, I'm just interested to see what is being laid out as fact.

The police did look in to re-opening the case about Brian's death in the 80's after Nicholas Fitzgerald did some article and a book, but it was thrown out when NF refused to put his claims down as a written statement, it appears the police then questioned the credibility of NF and his claims(quite rightly too imo!) and the case remained closed.

The fact Trevor's investigation seems to have used some of NF's claims is probably one of the many reasons the police have not re-opened the case recently.
