I think Jim's words worked GREAT as song lyrics but not as poems read on the written page. JMHO. As far as I know, the two of them never met, but Jim was very affected by Brian's death. He wrote the poem, had copies printed at his own expense and distributed them to audience members at his next concert. They treated the gift casually, and many of the printouts were left lying on the floor after the show (I wonder how much one of these would bring at auction on ebay today if authenticity could be established...). I seem to recall reading that Jim was hurt by this.

Jim died almost two years to the day after Brian, on July 3rd, 1971. I've never heard the men's room story but I think Jim would have been amused. I have visited his grave in Paris, and I've also seen (from the outside) the building where he was living at the time of his death, but it would never occur to me to visit a loo. LOL!
