I didn't know that about Ed King! Amazing!

Yeah, he packed up and went home at the end of May 1975 ( don't recall the exact date). The band spent the next year with only two guitars, then they hired Steve Gaines, who blew Ed King out of the water. As it so happened, the two shared a b-day (September 14, 1949). Steve, of course, was killed in the crash. Ed was spooked by that, he always said he felt that Steve had "bought his ticket".

I think I read somewhere (?) that Brian got out of their limo one tour, while it waited in traffic in Texas, and started strolling down the gridlocked freeway! Just how true that report was I couldn't tell you, but it sure must have blown away the whole crew if he did! LOL!!

Now that you mention it, I remember reading that too. Maybe in one of the biographies, Aftel or Jackson? But wasn't he at the show that evening anyway? That's the part I don't remember. They had to play a number of shows without him due to health reasons, but this would have been different. LOL!

If I'd had tickets to see the Stones in the 60s and Brian wasn't playing that night, I would have been so deeply disappointed that I may not have been able to enjoy the show at all.

Considering how difficult and stressful a life on the road can be, such stories must be common among rockers...especially among rockers who think they need drugs to keep them going. Very sad.

Difficult, stressful and... unrelently boring. As you can very well see when watching the "C*cksucker Blues" film, which perfectly illustrates the boredom by being... boring! And even though we've all read about TVs being hurled out of hotel windows, you don't realize just how moronic a behaviour it is until you actually see Keith and Bobby Keys doing it.
