I think Brian took a project he wasn't "into", and added the touches it needed to make the songs good---and interesting.

He sure did that! His work on TSMR was brilliant. And I think that's the very reason why people now believe that doing a psychedelic album was his idea. As if the Glimmers were going to listen to anyone, especially Brian, by that time!
