Subject: Sounds of the Sixties (SOTS)

A week or so back I sent a message to a Radio 2 music show called SOTS (see message subject).

I requested three Stones songs on their three in a row spot to mark Brian's 69th birthday.

I'm not hopeful of anything being played, as I probably didn't give them enough notice generally, and almost certainly not enough notice for the prodigious three in a row spot. (Though I did make an alternative request for just one song to be aired from the four I nominated).

As I said I'm not hopeful, but the programme airs here on a Saturday morning between 8am and 10am, so the nearest Saturday to the date to Brian's birdy would be 26 Feb.

The show is hosted by Brian Matthews, an 82 year old disc jockey, who used to present radio and TV shows back in the sixties. The kind of shows Brian and the Stones would have appeared on. The SOTS team really know their stuff and come up with some incredible stuff - facts, brilliant out-takes, long forgotten interviews etc. so it is a programme well worth a listen to.

Knowing me, I'll have every good intention to listen in, but will probably forget. (I'm going to see a band the night before as well, which will mean alcohol so that kind of reduces the chances of me listening in as well.)

Anyway, I thought I'd let y'all know - you never know. Though I'm kinda hoping they don't do my request and I will make a more concerted effort to get something played on Brian's 70th birthday.
