Cole says he always thought his TV audience, heavily centered in New York, favored the Stones. "I think that New York kids could relate to the street. They (the Stones) were like street kids from England. Street kids from New York understood them better than the packaged Beatles.

This is always funny to me. In actual life, the Stones were all (except for Bill) from a middle-class background, whereas the Beatles were working-class kids. But the PR spin made them the opposite of what they were. Of course since they were good friends, they probably laughed about that too.

Speaking of PR spin, that's the only way to explain this nonsense: "While Cole loved the Stones' music, their personal habits were another story. "They literally smelled when they walked in the studio," he said. "Standing next to them was a challenge because they didn’t know about bathing regularly or deodorant or hygiene."

Give it a rest! Everyone now knows that this wasn't true. Ludicrous statements like that can only discredit the rest of the story.
