That poem also reminds me of one of Brians contempary, British Blues musicians. Eric Clapton, Clapton did not want comercial success, and hated mainstream Rock, and Pop. When he joined the Yard Byrds,and they began to get success with larger tours and radio play He imediately quit, He wanted to play the Blues only. then When "The Cream" was at their Zenith in late 68, and their music had veered away from the chicago Blues concept that he had invisioned, He quit again. He seemed to rebel against Success, and did not want to be singled out as a front man, just wanted to do his thing and meld into the music.
