The non ratings period starts in a month or so and that's usually where they trial some of the more obscure shows. Then the ones they think will be popular are put on in February when ratings start again. Trouble is the networks are not big on keeping a show for longer than 2 eps if it doesn't have decent ratings first off. I really think shows need to be on for a while so that word of mouth can get around about how good they are. I think 5 or 6 eps really should be the minimum because some shows and viewers take a while to warm up.
